Raising children in the West, parents often worry that their kids will grow up disconnected from the Quran. The good news: children who learn early and enjoy it usually keep that connection for life.

Every child is born upon the fitrah
Narrated Abu Huraira:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Every child is born with a true faith of Islam (i.e. to worship none but Allah Alone) and his parents convert him to Judaism or Christianity or Magianism, as an animal delivers a perfect baby animal. Do you find it mutilated?

What age should children start?
Most children are ready to start Noorani Qaida around age 4–5, with short 20–30 minute lessons. Older beginners (8–14) progress quickly and should not feel embarrassed.
Keeping children motivated
- Short, regular lessons beat long, irregular ones.
- Choose a warm, patient teacher — the relationship matters more than the method.
- Celebrate milestones: finishing the Qaida, the first surah memorised, the first juz.
- Let them see you learning too.
- Ask for regular progress reports so you know exactly where they are.
