A Summer Quran Intensive for Kids: A 10-Week Plan
Summer break is the longest stretch of free time most children get all year — around ten weeks in much of the USA and six in the UK. A light but steady plan can move a child forward more in one summer than in a whole school term.
Choose one main goal
- Beginners: complete the Noorani Qaida.
- Readers: read one juz aloud with a teacher, focusing on Tajweed.
- Memorizers: learn 8–12 short surahs from our recommended list.
The 10-week structure
| Weeks | Focus |
|---|---|
| 1 | Assessment and routine-building |
| 2–4 | New material, 4–5 short lessons a week |
| 5 | Review week (lighter, fun) |
| 6–8 | New material |
| 9 | Review and polish |
| 10 | "Showcase" — recite for family |
For the UK's six-week holiday, drop weeks 5 and 9 and shorten the new-material blocks.
Daily rhythm
- Morning lesson (20–30 minutes) with a teacher.
- 10 minutes of practice after lunch.
- Recite what they know in prayer.
Keep it joyful
Summer should still feel like summer. Put lessons in the morning so afternoons stay free, and reward milestones, not time spent.
